Do your kids love to create? Get them out of the house and creating at Camp Wannamakeit! The camp is run by professional educators so your child will have the opportunity to create and learn. Camp Wannamakeit was born in Rushville’s backyards and now we’re bringing it to you!

The camps are broken up into grade levels. Please pick the grade your child will be in this fall. Please make sure your child is dressed in clothes they can get dirty. The visual arts camps will be exploring paint and other materials that may stain clothes. We will be having a lot of fun creating and sometimes that gets messy!

Camp Week 1 - June 19-23

Wild Beasts

Grades: K – 1
8:30 – 10:00 am

The Fauves are WILD BEASTS! Actually, Fauve means Wild Beast. The Fauves loved making animals and objects crazy colors and they used lots of funny shapes to make their art. People called them WILD! We will go beyond looking at the Fauves and look at several artists that used lots of crazy colors and shapes in their art. We will make lots of WILD art of our own!

Monet & Friends:

Grades: 2 – 4
10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Explore Impressionism during this week of Camp Wannamakeit! The Impressionists were a group of renegade artists during the turn of the 20th century. Artists like Claude Monet, Mary Cassatte, Auguste Rodin made art in ways that no one ever had. We will examine their art and make our own art using some of the techniques and styles they did!

Thiebaud’s Sweet Treats

Grades: 5 – 6
1:00 – 2:30 pm

Be prepared for a sugar overload during this week of Camp Wannamakeit. Wayne Thiebaud is known for his paintings of food, specifically desserts! We will create art in Theibaud’s sweet, Pop Art style.  Be ready to paint, draw, and sculpt some sweet desserts (and maybe even try some too!).

 

 

Stan Lee Wannabes

Grades: 7 – 8
5:00 – 6:30 pm

Have you ever wanted to make a comic? Learn how to write and illustrate a comic book like comic book hero Stan Lee! Over the course of the week, aspiring artists will learn the basics of comic book writing, layout, design, and drawing. We will look at a variety of comic books to give us inspiration.

 

 

Camp Week 2 - July 24-28

First Artists

Grades: K – 1
8:30 – 10:00 am

From the caves of France and Spain to the Colosseum of Rome, the first artists inspired us to create! We will explore cave paintings, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Greek Pottery, and Roman mosaics throughout this week of Camp Wannamakeit.  Join us for this exciting exploration of the first artists!  We have plenty of exciting surprises for these young artists!

 

Van Gogh’s Vision

Grades: 2 – 4
10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Van Gogh’s world was full of bright colors and swirling lines!  His art style is instantly recognized.  Van Gogh’s life inspired his artwork.  He painted the beauty of the world. We will explore his life and artwork throughout the week. Young artists will create works of art in the style of van Gogh.

Picasso Imposters

Grades: 5 – 6
1:00 – 2:30 pm

Picasso was one of the most influential artists! Throughout his life he created realistic and abstract art.  He forged the way for many current artists and he worked in all kinds of media. Join us as we explore Picasso’s life and art!  We will create our own Picasso inspired artwork along the way.  Participants will learn different sculpting, painting, and collage techniques throughout the week.

 

Modern Sculptors

Grades: 7 – 8
3:00 – 4:30 pm

Explore the art of some modern sculptors!  We will look at artists who are currently working in the art world. Young artists will explore different types of sculpture, media, and sculpting techniques during this week.  We will be getting messy so make sure to wear old clothes!
