Artist Statement

For more than thirty years Doug Johnson has been an exhibiting landscape painter. His paintings serve to document the artist’s deeply felt experience of America’s midwest. With these artworks, he deftly explores its communities and byways as part of our communal participation in our environment. Indeed, it is the fleeting alchemy of everyday transcendence that fuels these work’s themes and progress.

Bio

Johnson earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in studio art at Illinois State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree at Northern Illinois University. He has exhibited across the midwest and his paintings are included in many public and private collections.
