A Place to Grow
Capital Campaign
Project Description and Need
The Hub would like to purchase Washington School, a move that will provide us with ample room for growth—both in space and opportunities. Our current location, while valuable, presents several challenges, including an open floor plan that limits our ability to host diverse programs and events. Additionally, we face parking constraints, a lack of office space, no secured green space, and minimal storage. We have missed opportunities to expand programs like ceramics and cooking classes because of lack of space. With this space we would have the space to have pottery wheels, designated cooking spaces, and a place for our loom and printing presses.
Acquiring Washington School would allow us to expand our offerings to the community significantly. The facility includes 11 classrooms, two offices, a cafeteria, a gym, and a large green space with a playground. It also provides ample parking, ensuring greater accessibility for all. This move represents an exciting opportunity for The Hub to better serve our community and continue to grow in meaningful ways.
Schuyler-Industry School District will most likely sell Washington School by sealed bid, so what happens if we don’t get it? If we don’t get Washington, then we will look for another location or find a space and create an annex. Either way, The Hub needs more space to grow, and any funds raised will go toward expansion.
Campaign Goal
$150,000 for Phase 1 of A Place to Grow | Capital Campaign
Project Timeline
Half of Phase 1 funds need to be raised by May 31, 2025
The Hub must secure funding for the purchase of Washington School before it goes up for bid. Once the school is available, The Hub will place a bid on the property.
