The Hub’s Gnome Roam

We are so excited to introduce a new event this year, our first ever Summer 2025 Gnome Roam will take place between Friday, June 13th, 2025 and August 15th, 2025!

Each Gnome featured in this years Gnome Roam was decorated and named by a local artist.

What is a Gnome Roam?

A Gnome Roam is a sort of self-paced scavenger hunt where you search for. . . you guessed it, gnomes! We want to encourage you to get out and explore, there is adventure and inspiration waiting for you right here in Rushville!

How to Participate*

Participation is simple, there are 11 gnome statues placed on the trails at Schuy-Rush Park. Find the gnomes and take a selfie with each, bring your photographs into the Hub anytime during our open hours throughout the event and you will receive a free Summer 2025 Gnome Roam Patch. One patch per participant.

Enjoy a solo adventure, or gather up a group and work together to find all the gnomes!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

We ask that you be respectful of the park and other participants in this event – please do not attempt to remove the gnomes from their places and practice basic hiking etiquette. These are nature trails, be sure to dress properly, wear appropriate shoes, bugspray/sunscreen etc. The trail is steep in some places so be careful and watch your step.

All the gnomes are close to the path, but they are small so make sure to look down. Dopey marks the end of the gnome trail, so if you have not found all the gnomes by the time you reach him, turn back and look closer!

Location | Schuy-Rush Park, 8000 Schuy Rush Park Road, Rushville, IL 62681

When you get to Schuy-Rush follow Park Road until you see the sign for Deer Run, then you’ll follow Deer Run to the end (past the Boy Scout pavillion). You’ll be able to park in the grass near the trail head, look for this sign(pictured left), which marks the starting point of the Gnome Roam and will let you know you are in the right place!  

Gnome Roam on the Square | Alternative Option

We recognize that hiking is not for everyone, and for some of us it’s just not realistic or safe, so we created a more accessible version of the Gnome Roam by partnering with local businesses on the Rushville Square.

How to Participate

There are 6 gnomes in this version of the Gnome Roam which will be placed in the windows of businesses on and around the Rushville Square. Find the Gnomes and take a selfie with each, bring your photographs into the Hub anytime during our open hours throughout the event to receive a free Summer 2025 Gnome Roam Patch.

One patch per participant.

The rules for this version of the Gnome Roam are the same – we ask that you are respectful of the businesses and other participants in this event, please do not attempt to remove the gnomes from their locations and be courteous of others.
