The work of Rick Decorie
Exhibit Statement
Landmarks & Landscapes is a collection of photographs that reflects the quiet presence
of both the natural and the built world around us. From open prairies and shaded creeks
to weathered barns and forgotten towers, these images invite viewers to pause and see
the familiar with fresh eyes.
Each piece is an observation of how land and structure exist together—sometimes in
harmony, sometimes in tension, but always as part of a larger story of place. The work
balances wide views with small details, encouraging a sense of nostalgia while honoring
the resilience of rural life and the beauty of everyday surroundings.
Artist Bio
When viewers encounter my work for the first time, they often remark on the beauty and
simplicity of my photographs. That’s exactly how I see much of the world—beautiful in
its quiet moments, and simple in the way everyday details can speak volumes. Through
my lens and the way I process my images, I invite others to see the world through my
eyes.
Over the past five years, my work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions
across Illinois. I am also an active member of several arts associations throughout the
state, which continue to support and inspire my creative journey.
