7th Annual Scarecrow and Porch Decorating Contest
Celebrate Fall with Us!
Is that Fall calling? It’s time for this year’s Hub Scarecrow & Porch decorating contest! Decorate your porch, yard, or store front for fall or Halloween or make a scarecrow and display it or incorporate your scarecrow into your porch decorating! We’ll have a map for people to drive and see all of our participants! We’re also splitting the contest into two categories: Business and Private Residence.
Make sure to register to get on the map and to compete!
Don’t have a space or want to make the square festive? You can still set up on the square, just make sure to follow the guidelines!
Business Participants | Local businesses, school groups, community organizations, and non-profits.
Private Residences | Any property that isn’t a business.
Cost? There is a $10 registration fee

Important Dates:
Registration | September 1st – October 8th
Scarecrow Set-up | October 1st – October 14th
Announcement of Winners | October 15th live on Facebook
Scarecrow Take-down | November 1st – 6th if on the square. Businesses and Private Residence use your discretion.
Display and Upkeep: Participants are responsible for the set-up, upkeep, and tear down of their scarecrow. Businesses: If you place your scarecrow on the square you may NOT use stakes or stick anything in the ground. There are multiple systems under the surface of the square and we don’t want to damage our beautiful square. Please make a sign or tag to display with your scarecrow, so we know whose is whose. Businesses this is a great, fun way to advertise! Please make sure your scarecrow is kept photograph ready!
Scarecrow Contest Rules
- Must be appropriate for all ages.
- Scarecrow must be free standing if located on the square at the edge of Central Park, no stakes or other devices that stick in the ground may be used. (small rectangle hay bales may be used).
- Must be located where it can easily be viewed by the public.
- Must be able to withstand the elements.
